French football club, Lyon have announced that head coach Sylvinho has been sacked after a run of only one win in nine matches in all competitions.
The former Arsenal and Barcelona full-back was appointed as Bruno Genesio's replacement in May, but the 45-year-old Brazilian has now paid the price for their dip in form which has seen the club fallen to 14th position.
The decision to sack Sylvinho came after Lyon conceded a 90th-minute goal to lose 1-0 to rivals Saint-Etienne on Sunday, despite club's surprise 2-0 Champions League victory against RB Leipzig on Wednesday.
Lyon confirmed assistant coach Gerald Baticle will take temporary charge of the first team.
"OL have decided to implement a procedure which can lead to the termination of the contract of Sylvio Mendes Campo Junior (Sylvinho)," read a Lyon statement.
