Spanish giants, Real Madrid have confirmed that coach Zinedine Zidane's brother Farid has died at the age of 54 following a long-term illness.
The Los Blancos manager left the club's training camp in Montreal due to personal reasons, with Madrid announcing he was to be absent due to personal reasons.
It has now been revealed that Zidane's brother Farid has passed away.
Zidane's son Luca, who recently joined Racing Santander on loan, also requested he be allowed to leave the club temporarily.
According to Daily Mail, Farid passed away early on Saturday morning July 13th surrounded by his family. Zidane is also said to have made it back in time to see his brother before he died.
The coaching staff and players held a minute's silence on Saturday in tribute to Zinedine Zidane's brother Farid.
While he'll be away, his assistant, David Bettoni will take charge of pre-season training until Zidane returns to Montreal.
