Italian champions Juventus complete Adrien Rabiot signing on free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain

Italian champions, Juventus have completed the signing of Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain after running down his contract at the French club.

The 24-year-old French midfielder put pen to paper on a deal reportedly worth £6.2million per year plus bonuses and a £9m signing-on fee.

Rabiot, who was placed in exile in Paris after refusing to commit to a new deal said on Tuesday: 'The last few months have been complicated both from a sporting and personal level, but today I am ready to leave everything behind and begin a new adventure.'

Rabiot had been linked with a number of clubs around Europe, including Manchester United, but opted to move to Juventus after admitting Gianluigi Buffon and the lure of playing with Cristiano Ronaldo convinced him.

He added: 'Now was the right time for me to come here, and that's why I'm here. I have to tell you that in the past season I talked a lot to Gigi.

'We had the opportunity to talk and he gave me lots of suggestions and advice. Of course, we talked a lot about Juventus, he knows the team and club very well.

'Obviously he was the best person I could talk to about this. His opinion matters a lot to me because Gigi is a person I had a great season with, also from a personal point of view as he is a friend of mine, so certainly he played a role too.

'He told me lots of interesting things about Juventus, that if I wanted to make further progress in my career, they would be the best way to achieve that.

Certainly, they have a great added value compared to other clubs, so I took this advice very seriously.

'I often listened to him because he offered great advice. He made me think [about Juve] carefully and was persuasive. 

'Ronaldo is also a great champion, as are many others, so obviously that played a role in my decision too.'

Outsiders won’t take our land- Ekiti state governor Kayode Fayemi says amidst Ruga controversy

Ekiti state governor, Kayode Fayemi, says outsiders will not take over lands in Ekiti as long as he is in charge of the state. Fayemi made this known amidst the controversy generated following the Federal government's decision to take parcels of land from the 36 states in the Federation to establish Fulani herdsmen settlement known as Ruga.

Speaking during a condolence visit to Orin-Ekiti where a 65-year-old hunter, Emmanuel Ilori, was shot dead by suspected herdsmen over the weekend, the governor said the land in the state is not even enough for its indigines. He asked non-indigenes wishing to engage in businesses in the state to respect the culture of the people and pursue their interest in line with the laws of the land.

“Nobody is coming to take our land in Ekiti. The governor of Ekiti state has  the power over the land of Ekiti and it is the person that the governor gives land in Ekiti that can use the land of Ekiti.

If there are negative comments being peddled around that some people are coming to take over Ekiti land, it’s mere hearsay. It cannot happen in Ekiti except I am no longer the governor of Ekiti state and there is nobody that can be governor in Ekiti that will cede Ekiti land to outsiders because our land is not even enough for us.

Adequate security of our people is what concerns me most in Ekiti and Nigeria and I want our people to ignore the lies and falsehood some individuals are spreading around. There is nobody that will be governor in Ekiti that will allow outsiders to take over our communities from the people here or say that people coming from elsewhere should come and take over Ekiti land.” he said

15-year-old tennis star Coco Gauff defeats Venus Williams 39 at Wimbledon 2019

American junior tennis player, Coco Gauff has just defeated, Venus Williams, 39, the big sister of tennis legend, Serena Williams at the ongoing Wimbledon tournament. 

The 15-year-old who is the youngest woman to qualify for the tournament stunned the five-time Wimbledon champion on her debut to a 6-4 6-4 win in the first round of the tournament on Monday.

Honestly I don't really know how to feel. That's the first time I have ever cried after winning a match. I don't even know how to explain how I feel.

I had to tell myself to stay calm, I have never played on such a big court. I had to remind myself of the lines on the court. Everything around it might be bigger, but the lines are the same.

She just told me congratulations and to keep going and good luck. I told her thank you for everything. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her, she is so inspiring and I always wanted to tell her that, even though I met her before I didn't have the guts to tell her then.

I know my parents are super happy, my dad was jumping up every time I won a point.

I am literally living my dream right now and not many people get to say that.

Speaking on Williams, she said:

'I told her thank you for everything. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her'

The Florida born who grew up admiring the Williams sisters is the 12th youngest overall to play in the Wimbledon main draw, but the youngest to come through qualifying.  

Body falls from plane and lands in London garden close to a man subathing

A body has fallen from a plane and landed in a garden in South London, close to a man who was sunbathing.

The man who fell is believed to be a stowaway who hid under the plane before it took off from Nairobi, Kenya, on a 9-hour flight to Heathrow. The man fell from the landing gear of the jet as it approached Heathrow, police and airline officials say.

A neighbour said: "I heard a 'whomp' – I went upstairs to look out of a window. At first I though it was a tramp asleep in the garden. He had all of his clothes on and everything. I had a closer look and saw there was blood all over the walls of the garden. His head was not in a good way. I realised immediately that he had fallen.

"So I went outside and it was just then the neighbour came out and he was very shaken. He had been sunbathing and he landed one metre away from him."

The Metropolitan Police force says the body of an unidentified man was found in a garden in Offerton Road, Clapham, on Sunday, and it’s believed he fell from a plane. He has not yet been identified.

Kenya Airways said Monday that police traced the body to its Nairobi-London flight. A bag, water and food were discovered in the plane’s landing-gear compartment.

The neighbour added: "I spoke to Heathrow. They said this happens once every five years."

In a statement, the Met Police said: "Officers are working to establish the identity of a man believed to have fallen from the landing gear compartment of an aeroplane. Police were called at 3.39pm on June 30 to a residential address in Offerton Road, Clapham after a body was discovered in a garden.

"Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service. The body of a person, believed to be a man (age unknown) was found.

"A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course. Police are working to establish the man’s identity. A crime scene was put in place but has since been closed."

President Trump makes historic visit to North Korea's Demilitarized Zone

President Donald Trump on Sunday shook hands with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as they met at the demilitarized zone that has divided the Korean peninsula for 66 years.

After shaking hands with Kim over the line that marks where their two countries and their allies fought each other to a standstill in the 1950-53 Korean War, Trump walked for several steps into North Korean territory, before another handshake.  

The two men then walked into Seoul’s territory together pausing on the line for photographers where they were joined by South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

The impromptu meeting in the DMZ which came after Trump issued an invitation on Twitter on Saturday comes with negotiations between Pyongyang and Washington over the North’s nuclear arsenal at a deadlock.
